Employment Peer Mentor (Certified Peer Support Specialist)

Sanctuary House is seeking a passionate and motivated Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) to join our dynamic IPS Supported Employment Team as an Employment Peer Mentor (EPM). In this role, you will support adults living with serious mental illness as they pursue meaningful employment, recovery, independence, and community integration.
This is an exciting opportunity to use your lived experience to inspire hope, build confidence, and help others move toward their employment and wellness goals while working alongside a collaborative behavioral health team.
REQUIRED:
- ACTIVE NC Peer Support Specialist Certification - No exceptions
- Previous employment experience in any role
- Clean driving record to be insurable to drive company vehicles
ABOUT THE ROLE:
Employment Peer Mentors provide encouragement, mentorship, advocacy, and practical support to individuals participating in IPS Supported Employment services. EPMs use their personal lived experience and employment journey to help individuals navigate challenges, build confidence, and succeed in the workplace and community.
This position does not carry an individual caseload. Instead, EPMs support participants across the IPS program as needed and serve as an important member of the treatment and employment support team.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Promoting recovery, self-determination, self-advocacy, and wellness
- Helping individuals identify strengths, goals, and barriers to employment
- Supporting individuals in developing workplace confidence and independence
- Assisting individuals with goal planning and employment-related problem solving
- Encouraging participation in treatment, community supports, and employment services
- Attending treatment team meetings alongside individuals to support self-advocacy
- Modeling healthy communication, workplace success strategies, and recovery skills
- Assisting individuals with disclosure decisions and requesting workplace accommodations
- Teaching wellness and recovery management strategies, including:
- WRAP (Wellness Recovery Action Plan)
- IMR/WMR (Illness Management & Recovery / Wellness Management & Recovery)
- Helping individuals build social and community integration skills that support long-term employment success
- Assisting individuals in overcoming barriers related to employment and workplace challenges
- Supporting individuals in obtaining documentation necessary for employment
