DescriptionDescription:
Engage, motivate and support patients within various levels of recovery with potential substance misuse admitted to inpatient medical units, the emergency department and the inpatient behavioral health unit. The position operates both independently and as an integrated member of a psychiatric consult liaison team.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as a role model for individuals and their families by discussion of experiential knowledge and recovery skills
- Educate and assist individuals and their families with navigating substance misuse treatment and resources
- Coach individuals and their families about recovery regarding variations in coping styles, motivations, strengths and the resources of the individual
- Identify, navigate and enhance motivation for engagement in various self-help and community recovery organizations
- Advocate for individuals to ensure appropriate community-based treatment and recovery linkages and services
- Maintain peer to peer relationships with individuals and family during their medical admission to foster motivation and continued engagement
- Work collaboratively with other disciplines on the medical units to develop an understanding of the individual’s level of motivation, engagement and ongoing recovery needs
- Empower individuals to make self -determined and self-directed choices about their recovery pathway
- Engage actively in weekly supervision meetings and case reviews
- Complete necessary documentation and charting accurately and within the timeframe and guidelines as defined by the program
- Collaborate with Psychiatric Consult Liaison Team working as part of a proactive CL model.
- Provide referral and resource assistance to patients, care givers, social work and nursing.
- Complete linkage and navigation assistance when needed and appropriate
- Maintain requested program/department metrics in coordination with program leadership
QualificationsRequired:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
CPRS (Certified Peer Recovery Specialist) certification from either the Addiction Professionals Certification Board of NJ or National Peer Recovery Support Specialist certification.
2 years of recovery focused work experience
