Clarity Wellness Community is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Peer Support Specialist to join our team. In this vital role, you will walk alongside individuals experiencing mental health and/or substance use challenges, providing support, building trust, fostering independence, and helping them navigate their personal path to recovery.

What You'll Do

As a Peer Support Specialist, you'll provide community- and home-based services that uplift, encourage, and empower individuals. Your work will include:

Support & Engagement, Skill Building & Recovery Coaching, Community Connection & Resource Navigation, Collaboration & Documentation

What You Bring

We're looking for someone who:

  • Identifies as being in active recovery from a behavioral health condition and is willing to self-disclose their journey.
  • Holds (or is eligible for) OMH New York Certified Peer Specialist (NYCPS) certification or Office of Addiction Services peer certification.
  • Has experience supporting adults with behavioral health challenges (preferred).
  • Understands harm reduction, motivational interviewing, and person-centered recovery models.
  • Has strong communication, coping, and problem-solving skills.
  • Is adaptable, empathetic, and able to think critically in complex situations.
  • Is proficient, or willing to become proficient, in Microsoft Office and electronic medical records.
  • Holds a valid driver's license, has at least 3 years of driving history, and can pass a DMV check.

Travel & Schedule

  • Full-time, 40 hours/week, Monday–Friday.
  • Travel throughout Allegany County to homes and community locations is required.
  • Schedule may vary based on client needs.
