General Responsibilities

  • Assume the role and approach of a peer support specialist when interacting with students
  • Discuss each student’s goals, strengths, and motivation while interacting in individual or group meetings
  • Meet with each student on a daily basis to identify needs, discuss progress, provide peer support, and continuing care

Specific Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Conduct daily check-ins with each student in a group or individual basis
  • Conduct risk assessments
  • Develop a stable and safe environment for students to thrive
  • Collaborate with school-based counterparts to execute programming such as but not limited to:
    • Healthy Relationship programming
    • Substance Use Education (vaping, marijuana/cannabis, edibles)
    • Conflict Mediation
    • Life Skills
    • Incentive-Based programming
    • Financial Management education
    • Career Counseling
    • Scholarship/College Prep
    • Transportation to School Assistance
  • Provide peer support to students (as needed) throughout the school day
  • Connect and collaborate with involved referents, ensuring they remain appropriately informed of the students’ progress
  • Collaborate with the Clubhouse team and school support staff for each student to determine the recommended level of care and the most appropriate programs for outbound referrals
  • Document all member/family/referent interactions and obtain releases of information when necessary
  • Participate in all necessary meetings related to student care (IEP meetings, family support meetings, staff huddles, one on one meetings, etc.) 
  • Solidify referrals to outbound providers by ensuring the appropriate information is securely sent by Ashley and received by the provider
  • (If Applicable) Ensure each member has a plan for transportation to and from the Clubhouse through coordination with the school and/or family
  • Utilize goal planning with students to address needs 

 

What You Bring

  • High School Diploma 
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • 2-3 years of work experience in behavioral health, adolescent support, or community case management preferred.
  • The ability to pass a state and federal child background investigation.
  • The ability to pass a state and federal criminal investigation through fingerprinting.
  • Knowledgeable of community resources and identification of client needs
  • CPRS or CPRS-F credential required. Certification as a Peer Recovery Specialist within 12 months from the date of hire from the Maryland Addictions Professional Certification Board (MAPCB)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Speak clearly; basic written skills; basic mathematical skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Communicate well with members, enforcing policies and procedures in a fair but firm manner.
  • Ability to effectively communicate across multiple departments and parties involved in member care.
  • A valid driver’s license with clean driving record required.
  • CPR/AED certification required.
  • NARCAN training required
  • Requires mobility of a frequent nature due to the logistical nature of working with adolescents.
