Passionate Hands Transitional Housing in Gwynn Oak, MD is seeking to hire a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist. The Certified Peer Recovery Specialist plays a vital role in supporting individuals facing mental health and substance use challenges. This position involves utilizing personal experiences to foster hope, empowerment, and recovery among peers. The Certified Peer Recovery Specialist will work collaboratively with clients, providing guidance, mentorship, and resources to help them navigate their recovery journey.
Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one support and mentoring to individuals in recovery from mental health and substance use disorders.
- Facilitate group sessions that promote peer support and shared experiences.
- Assist clients in developing coping strategies and life skills necessary for recovery.
- Engage in crisis intervention and management to ensure client safety and well-being.
- Collaborate with behavioral health professionals to create individualized recovery plans.
- Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to encourage clients' progress toward their goals.
- Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions and progress in compliance with organizational policies.
- Advocate for clients’ needs within the healthcare system and connect them with appropriate resources.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance , mental health counseling, and crisis management.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Peer Specialist or equivalent experience in a related field.
- Strong , mental health counseling, and behavioral health systems.
- Experience in crisis management and intervention techniques.
- Excellent mentoring skills with the ability to inspire hope and resilience in others.
- Proficiency in motivational interviewing techniques.
- Background in social work or related fields is preferred but not mandatory.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse populations.
- A commitment to maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards within the peer support framework.
This role is essential for fostering a supportive environment that encourages recovery through shared experiences, compassion, and professional guidance.
