Position Summary:
Provides Certified Recovery Specialist services to an adult population in the community
struggling with substance use disorder and addiction, in accordance with the
Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs guidelines and Carelon Standards.
Essential Functions:
Model recovery-oriented behavior and education at all times to individuals, family, and community about substance use disorder and the recovery process.
Conduct self in an ethical manner by adhering to the Pennsylvania Certification Board (PCB) Code of Ethics and standards of practice along with agency policy and
procedures.
Engage the individual and establish rapport, while utilizing empathetic and active listening,
communicating in a non-judgmental way, and recognizing addictive behaviors to
assist individuals in identifying and prioritizing strengths and needs.
Provide recovery support, coaching, and encouragement to individuals contemplating or actively seeking help with substance use recovery.
Collaborate with referral sources to coordinate services for the individual and identify and
support linkages to community resources needed.
Maintain confidentiality of information received during the facilitation of recovery
support services.
Identify signs and symptoms of intoxication, tolerance, dependance, withdrawal, and overdose, along with crisis and emergency situations and facilitate access to appropriate
resources for identified situations.
Complete all reports, documentation, and data entry in a timely and accurate fashion.
Maintain utilization requirements.
Computer competency with the ability to learn agency software.
Be well organized, have excellent verbal and written communication skills, document accurately & within timeframes.
Other duties as assigned to support the mission of the agency.
Daylight, Monday-Friday hours, some flex schedule, occasional evening/weekends. No Holidays. Travel to community sites, agencies and consumers homes. Mileage reimbursement is available at the state set rate!
The hourly starting rate is $18.50.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or general equivalency degree.
Certified Recovery Specialist (CRS) Certification through the PA certification board.
Have lived experience with a substance use disorder.
Maintained full-time, part-time, or voluntary work experience in the past 12 months.
CRS must be in recovery with at least 2 years sustained, current recovery history.
Valid driver’s license, proof of auto insurance, Act 33/34 and FBI clearances
required. Individuals who have accessed human services are encouraged to apply.
