DescriptionOverall Purpose and Objective of the Position: The Director of Behavioral Health works closely with the Executive Director in strategic planning for services and is responsible for the overall management of behavioral health services and supports and in representing these services to the community. The director provides leadership and supervision to Case Managers, Certified Peer Specialists, Therapists, and Counselors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Position:
- Ensures that integrated service teams provide quality services to consumers in a cost effective manner, according to agency vision and mission, best practices, psychiatric rehabilitation principles, agency policy, contract and certification standards, and relevant Medicaid and Missouri Department of Mental Health Administrative Rules.
- Monitors performance of behavioral health programs through monthly and quarterly reports; reviews program data and assesses needs and opportunities.
- Facilitates program supervisor manager, utilization review, quality assurance, and clinical review meetings with the Director of Clinical Services.
- Ensures that documentation in clinical records meets all standards and policies.
- Maintains a healthy and safe working environment and provides feedback and recommendations regarding hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations.
- Provides administrative supervision and annual performance appraisals for Case Managers, Peer Support Specialists, Therapists and Counselors.
- Coordinates development and implementation of annual program goals and evaluation procedures.
- Assists Executive Director in strategic planning and leads Program Supervisors and Managers in implementation.
- Works with the Executive Director and Director of Operations to develop annual budget for program services; oversees and manages budget.
- Facilitates collaborative partnership; establishes and maintains working relationships with funding sources and other key service providers and stakeholders.
- Provides timely information and feedback to Executive Director regarding emergent program, staff, or participant issues and trends.
- .50 FTE will be spent providing billable services.
- Other duties as assigned.
QualificationsMinimum Skills and Qualifications:
- Master's degree in social work, counseling, rehabilitation, or other human service area that meets credentialing standards for Qualified Mental Health Professional.
- 5 years of progressively responsible experience managing behavioral health programs and services and in supervising staff.
- Knowledge and experience working with people with psychiatric disabilities including those with cooccurring substance use and or medical conditions.
- Flexibility, strong verbal and communication skills, problem solving and negotiating skills.
- Experience in positions requiring strict attention to details and accuracy, above average organizational skills, and prioritizing shifting priorities.
- Demonstrated internal customer service skills; providing services to employees in personnel focused organizations.
- Intermediate PC skills to include MS Office (Windows, Word Processing, Excel, and Access)
- Demonstrated ability to supervise and handle employee relations and personnel and to create a productive, team oriented work environment.
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills to effectively speak with staff members, candidates, and new employees.
- Demonstrated ability to work sucessfully in a team environment, functioning for the good of the team over the individual.
