Are you passionate about supporting the Behavioral Health & Justice Involved Populations and making a real difference in their lives? EAC Network, a leading not-for-profit social service agency dedicated to helping over 80,000 people through 100 impactful programs across Long Island and NYC, is looking for a dedicated Full Time Peer Recovery Coach to join the Brooklyn Collaborative Legal Engagement Addiction Response Program temporarily for 9 months (with the possibility of this being extended).
- Wage: $33 per hour
- Schedule: Monday through Friday 9am to 5pm - with the ability to work nights/weekends if necessary.
- Location: 175 Remsen Street, 5th Floor in Brooklyn.
- Duration: This role will be temporary for 9 months with the possibility of extension.
What drives the core purpose of this job:
The Peer Recovery Coach for the Brooklyn Collaborative Legal Engagement and Addiction Response (CLEAR) program is responsible for providing on-going culturally responsive and appropriate support for participants referred to the program by fostering positive relationships and connecting them to services in the community.
What are the key Responsibilities:
- Respond to precincts throughout Brooklyn to talk to prospective participants about the program and its benefits.
- Identify and facilitate emergency resources for participants.
- Encourage participants to visit with the program Case Manager and follow up with referrals to community-based support resources and other ancillary services.
- Meet with clients on an on-going, as needed basis on and off site and be available via email and cell phone for support, advice, and guidance.
- Provide a Naloxone kit and training to participants if needed.
- Participate in team meetings.
- Participate in regularly scheduled on-going trainings and supervision.
- Maintain client charts and notes, update after each interaction with client and have available for inspection by supervision at any time.
- Community outreach and liaising with criminal justice agencies such as court staff, police, parole/probation officers).
- Perform all other relevant duties as determined by supervision and EAC NETWORK administration.
What key knowledge, skills, and abilities are required to excel in this role:
- High School diploma or educational equivalent required.
- Certified Peer Recovery Coach Certification (CRPA) or training preferred.
- OASAS/OMH Peer Specialist Certification or peer specialist training such as Howie the Harp Peer Advocacy and Training Center Peer Specialist Program preferred.
- Must have good communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to work cooperatively with multiple agencies.
- Knowledge of target population and borough resources.
- Willing to travel throughout Brooklyn.
- Ability to work nights and weekends.
- Must be proficient in computer applications or other automated systems such as spreadsheets, Microsoft Office applications, calendar, email and/or database software necessary to perform work assignments.
- Peer Recovery Coach must be local to the Brooklyn area in order to respond to emergency calls!
