At Riverbend Community Mental Health, we know that sometimes the most powerful medicine is talking to someone who truly gets it. We are looking for a courageous, empathetic Peer Support Specialist to join our Mobile Crisis Team.


In this role, you aren’t just an employee—you are a bridge to hope. You’ll work alongside clinicians and first responders to meet people in their toughest moments, proving that recovery isn't just possible—it’s happening. This is a Tuesday - Friday afternoon/evening shift (4 p.m. – 12 a.m.).

What You’ll Do:

  • Be a Voice of Hope: Use your own lived experience with mental health and/or substance use recovery to support individuals and families in active psychiatric crises.
  • Collaborate on the Front Lines: Work as a key member of a multidisciplinary team, partnering with healthcare providers and community leaders to stabilize high-pressure situations.
  • Create Better Outcomes: Help neighbors avoid unnecessary hospitalizations or incarcerations by connecting them to the immediate, community-based care they need.
  • Advocate & Empower: Turn a moment of crisis into a turning point for long-term healing and stability.
Requirements

  

What We’re Looking For:

  • A passion for the mental health field and helping others thrive.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to connect with a diverse population.
  • Reliability, patience, and a positive, team-focused attitude.
  • Ability to remain grounded and supportive when others are experiencing their most difficult days.
  • Previous experience in mental health or direct care setting is a plus!

What You’ll Bring:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Relevant work experience and/or college-level education in human services preferred.
  • Lived experience with a willingness to share one’s own recovery journey and successful management of mental health challenges required.
  • Peer Support Certification endorsed by the State of New Hampshire, or willingness to pursue certification, required.
  • Valid driver’s license and proof of auto insurance required (or access to a reasonable transportation alternative).
  • Travel throughout Riverbend’s catchment area to various towns, community locations, client homes, state agencies, or other locations necessitated by job duties is required.
  • Training in crisis intervention as a Peer Support Specialist preferred.
