Description

Summary

The SEND IC mentor will be an integral member of the SEND IC Program cohort. This position is a yearlong commitment with a two-week summer bridge focus. The successful candidate MUST be a prior SEND IC participant, and currently active in the TRIO program. SEND IC mentors will demonstrate an outstanding commitment to leadership/mentorship through designing intentional activities, guidance, and friendship. SEND IC mentors will be paid a one-time stipend in August after the two-week summer bridge program, then be paid bi-weekly for their additional school-year responsibilities including, but not limited to study table, mentoring activities, and additional duties as assigned.

 

Essential Functions

Summer Bridge Requirements:

  • Arrive early to campus and act as the on-site RA while students are in the dorms.
  • Plan, arrange, design, and implement bonding/team building activities outside of the classroom sessions.
  • Accountable and responsible for SEND IC during “off” hours.
  • Must be comfortable having and helping to facilitate conversations around disability as identity.

 

Additional semester duties:

• Plan, organize, and implement weekly study tables for SEND IC Participants

• Help coordinate, plan, and supervise SEND IC cultural trip.

• Assist in outreach programming

Compensation: $12/hour
