Established in 1970, Boley Centers, Inc. is a private, non-profit organization serving individuals with mental disabilities, individuals and families who are homeless, Veterans and youth in Pinellas County.

Boley Centers, Inc., a nationally recognized and accredited behavioral health care agency, has an opening for a part-time Veteran Peer Support Specialist to provide veterans with the support and skills needed to challenge the obstacles in their lives, relating to the veterans on a personal level so they are empowered to pursue their recovery through shared experiences and strategies for success.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists the recovery team with assessing strengths and needs of veterans in the program by directly observing/teaching skills.
  • Assist with recovery plans that seek to restore a veteran’s functioning in key roles in life such as work, family and community.
  • Builds working relationship and maintains regular contact.
  • Communicates the veteran’s needs to the team. Reports, as appropriate, all unusual events, activities and incidents to supervisor or appropriate team member.
  • Assists veteran to access resources in the community such as recreational activities, work, medical, dental, etc.
  • Mentors veterans in role recovery activities such as symptom management, relapse prevention, stress reduction and work readiness.
  • Directly transports and teaches public transportation to veterans to support independence.

 EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma/GED equivalency required
  • Minimum of one year of responsible work experience, preferably involving interactions with veterans/military.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Valid Florida driver's license, proof of auto insurance and own vehicle required.
  • Must pass a Level 2 background check and drug screen.
