EmpowerTulsa Youth Educator Job Description
Purpose: The Youth Educator plays an important role on Lilyfield’s youth programming team by providing group and individual education, mentoring, and support to at-risk youth and young adults using a variety of interventions including structured Love Notes education groups, youth clubs, and individual youth coaching and mentoring.
Job Responsibilities:
- Become trained in Love Notes as a group facilitator.
- Provide group education as a facilitator in person and virtually.
- Provide individual mentoring services to youth as needed.
- Recruit participants in the community through strong relationships with other community resources.
- Create an engaging and interactive environment for participants to learn.
- Support and provide positive connection with youth, young adults, and their families.
- Support individual training make-up or follow up education sessions.
- Travel and to and from programming site locations for education and support.
- Case coordination and management in conjunction with other service providers such as foster care workers, counselors, teachers, etc.
- Maintain and cultivate the strong partnership between community resources and Lilyfield.
- Identify needs in the target community and create solutions to meet those needs.
- Maintain awareness of and relationships with a variety of other services providers.
- Assist in collecting data from each participant during the group sessions and maintain case files.
- Various marketing and PR activities for the agency.
- Some driving may be required
- Other tasks as assigned
Wage Classification:
Salary-Non exempt
Financial Justification for the Position:
This position is funded primarily through the Relationships, Education, Advancement and Development for Youth for Life (Ready4Life) grant.
Work Hours:
Monday-Friday 8:30-5:00pm, some evenings and weekends for group programing.
Reporting:
This position reports to the Regional Director Tulsa.
Education/Experience:
High school diploma with three years of work experience along with lived experience in the community we are serving or Bachelor’s level degree in social work, psychology or a human services related area of study with at least one year of experience in program service delivery or education facilitation.
Competencies/Requirements:
- Willingness to agree to and abide by all policies and procedures including OP410 Faith Engagement and OP413 Practicing Biblical Hospitality, Justice, and Service.
- Solid social work skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to engage community partners for program collaboration
- Experience in child trauma
- Demonstrated competence in assessment and evaluation of youth and families
- Ability to use discretion when discussing sensitive or confidential information
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to schedule and multitask
- Good problem-solving skills
- Meet requirements of licensing standards in regard to criminal background check.
- Be physically, mentally and emotionally capable of performing the assigned tasks and have the skills necessary to perform assigned tasks.
- Valid Oklahoma driver’s license
Experience:
At least one year of work experience with youth, young adults and families or three years of work experience in any field along with relevant lived experience in the community we are serving.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit on the floor, bend and be at ground level with youth.
